Read this book as a follow up after I saw the TV series “Mrs. Wilson”. Actually there were 4 Mrs. Wilsons - all at the same time. This one-time secret agent and prolific writer of spy fiction led a life worthy of his novels. A short book, easy to read. Lots of minutae - sometimes drags a bit, but quite fascinating just the same/5(13).

Gary Byrne, a former Secret Service agent who worked in Bill Clinton’s White House, tells a dramatic story in his upcoming book about how he personally helped a White House steward dispose of towels stained by semen and lipstick to protect the president from a sex scandal.

The Secret Agent reads well on two levels: as a tale of sabotage gone horribly wrong and as a series of carefully crafted character studies. The story itself digresses and falls back on itself chronologically, so although the plot is, as Conrad suggests in his subtitle, “simple,” it can be difficult for readers to follow.

"The Secret Agent," Joseph Conrad's novel about an anarchist plot to blow up the Royal Observatory at Greenwich -- in fact, a scheme by a secret police agent.

The Secret Agent is one of Conrad's later political novels in which he moved away from his former tales of seafaring. In the post-9/11 world, The Secret Agent inevitably became the go-to book — not surprising, considering it garnered a reputation for being the first work of fiction to have addressed the subject.

This book is all about being a secret service agent and what he witnessed. Obviously he is Republican but it did not seem like a hatchet job. He discusses his failed run for the Senate and limitations placed on him because of his role.

Reviews:   Top Five Secret Agent Novels. Posted on March 2, March 3, by Mark Henshaw. I usually don’t have much use for “Top 5” lists when it comes to books.

Art is subjective and heaven knows I’m no literary authority. So don’t look at what follows as a Top 5 list; rather, look at it as a list of tales, in no particular order, that.
